Living Faith News – Week of February 26

Here is a portion of the commentary of the March 2nd devotion from Christ in Our Home, appropriate for Living Faith, I think:

“Daily, God calls us into our future, and God’s promise to be with us, strengthening, guiding, and blessing us, is daily given. Certainly, we will also get to be God’s blessings to those we meet: building friendships, rendering service, sharing new life.

Last Sunday

We had 32 attending worship on Sunday with an offering taken of $750.

A sign that says, "Lenten Offering" and a donation box.
Wednesdays during Lent, cash/"noisy" offerings are being accepted to donate to local charities!

This Sunday, March 5

  • 10:00 – 10:45 – Faith and Fellowship Time – Come for a cup of coffee and conversation with friends in the PUCC Youth Room!

  • 11:00 – Worship in the Youth Room of the PUCC - Kay Michaelson will read and Kim Lang will assist with communion.

  • There is a Winds of Hope Conference meeting at 2:00 on March 5 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church is Cherokee. Any Living Faith member is welcome to attend!

March 8th Lenten Service

  • 5:00 – Worship with Holden Evening Prayer in the PUCC Fellowship Hall

  • 5:30 – Lenten meal: Taverns, Cheesy Potatoes, Grapes and Dessert

  • 6:30 – PUCC Small Group – You’re invited to join in a small group discussion on “A New Family – Throwing Open the Doors of the Church” in the PUCC Fellowship Hall.

For our meal, the Kopperud family is providing the tavern meat; Yvonne Law, Kay Allen, June Ferguson and Kay Michaelson are bringing hamburger buns; Rich and Jean Ziettlow will bring small bottles of water; Debbie Gibson and Kay Michaelson are bringing pans of cheesy potatoes (1 more volunteer needed); Kinley Van Otterloo is bringing grape clusters; and Peg McAllister and Kim Lang will bring dessert.

What’s on the Sign-Up Table?

Image of a sign that says, "Sign Up Now".
Look for ways you can learn, grow, and participate with Living Faith Lutheran.

Look for the sign-up table on Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings:

  • Sign up to help with the meal for Wednesday evening Lenten services.

  • Sign up to help with reading or serving communion on Sunday mornings.

  • Pick up a Lenten devotional or Lenten calendar from ELCA World Hunger. PUCC Lenten devotionals are shared with us as well!

  • On Wednesdays, look for this box located on the sign-up table! Cash and noisy offerings are welcomed! At the end of the Lenten season, we will open the box, count up the monies collected and decide which local charity(ies) we wish to give to!

Reminder from the Synod Office!!

Until the Leadership Team gets word of our EIN number, we cannot open a checking account for Living Faith. As a result, the Western Iowa Synod is still receiving our offering monies and keeping them in an account for us there. Please make any check contributions out to the Western Iowa Synod until further notice.

Looking Ahead to Easter

The Leadership Team has set Easter services for 9:30 AM on April 9th. It is hoped that we will be serving an Easter breakfast prior to worship – details to come. One of the things the Leadership Team needs to determine is how many we can expect for this service in order to know if our worship space is sufficient for the number of worshipers planning to come. Please email Kay Michaelson at bkmich4@gmail.com to let her know how many in your family we can expect on that Sunday morning.

Western Iowa Synod Assembly Information

The Synod Assembly will be held April 21 & 22 at the Le Mars Convention Center. Living Faith is eligible to send 1 voting delegate to this convention. Please contact any member of the Leadership Team if you would like to attend as a voting delegate. Living Faith will pay for your registration. Living Faith will be the recipient of the offering taken up at the Assembly. More information will be coming as to how Living Faith will be helping at this gathering.

Living Faith Apparel

Front design of the t- and sweatshirts.

Get Branded 360 has worked with Living Faith to create t-shirts and sweatshirts with our logo on the front! The back features the slogan “A Place for You” with the ELCA logo. Angela Catton will have shirt renderings and order forms for you on Sunday. Costs will be $20 for a t-shirt and $30 for a sweatshirt. Size 2XL and larger are $3 more. The shirts will be here in plenty of time for the Western Iowa Synod Assembly!
